Ophidian is dead.
After some soul searching and many, many conversations with our printing partners, we've come to the realization that we would have a very difficult time matching the card backs/print quality/coloration, etc. of the existing Ophidian 2360 product. As such, we are going to be re-branding the game, including all in-game elements. The iconography will remain the same, as will the core game mechanics.
We wanted to make sure that the new game meshed well with what you had, and realized that printing the game with a new theme/title in its entirety would be a better experience for everyone, and much better value as well!
Long Live Ophidian.
This new game will still be 100% compatible with Ophidian 2350 & Ophidian 2360. It'll just be a whole new boxed game as well! We are working on rebranding the existing game and while some of the names of cards may change, the function will remain the same. And we've got a few more tricks up our sleeves as well!
What does this mean for you (backers)?
It means that you're going to get an upgrade!
Originally, we were going to reprint and retire some existing 2360 cards (especially, Reinforcements, since they were re-done for Arena) but now, you'll get a complete, ready-to-play game with no adjustments necessary. You can still use whatever cards you have, or you can give them to a friend to get them started!
There will be no additional cost for you, you will still receive what you backed us for (depending on your backer level).
The total number of cards will be the same (and may even go up in some cases!)

We need your input. We have been tossing around some ideas for a new name/retheme of the game, and while we have some strong contenders, none of them have quite got that... IT that we're looking for. There are a lot of combat-oriented games on the market, and we want something that tells you a bit about what you're looking at that is still fun and engaging. Ophidian, while a cool name, doesn't really say much about the universe. Ophidian Arena was a step in the right direction, as Arena tells you a bit about the theme... but we'd like to take it a step further.
The storyline will also shift a bit. Each competitor will have a planet/system/dimension/plane of origin. Not necessarily where they were born/created/hatched, but the place that they call home. The place that they are fighting for. Each competitor will have their home identified on their cards, and that home will have a minor impact on gameplay as well. If you build your team with competitors from the same home, you will be eligible for a bonus at the start of the game.
This will also increase the theme, allowing players to identify with a particular home, and giving another option to consider when building a team.
